TL;DR:

The elastic band helps the jumper fit snugly and keep your dog warm — most dogs prefer it.
If your dog is still growing, between sizes, or you want an easier on-and-off fit, go without the elastic band.
The female (longer) chest fits both male and female dogs, but without an elastic band it may increase the chance of your dog peeing on the jumper.
If that’s a concern — go for regular chest with elastic band for the best fit and comfort.

Choosing the Right Koro Chest Option: Regular, Longer, or Elastic Band

When picking a jumper for your dog, the right chest fit can make a big difference in both comfort and practicality.
At Koro, we offer several chest design variations so you can choose the one that fits your dog’s needs perfectly.

Here’s a quick guide to help you understand the difference between regular, longer/female, and elastic band options 👇

🐾 Regular Chest

The regular chest is our standard fit - comfortable, practical, and suitable for most whippets and sighthounds.
It provides great coverage and warmth while keeping plenty of room for movement.

This chest option is also sometimes called the “male length”, as it’s shorter and helps prevent pee-on-sweater accidents - especially when paired with an elastic band (read more about it further below).

💡 Regular/Male option is best for:

  • Everyday wear

  • Active dogs

  • Male dogs who need shorter chest coverage to avoid accidents

If your dog has a tendency to pee on the jumper, the regular chest with an elastic band is the best option. It keeps the jumper snug against the body, reducing the risk of the fabric hanging too low.

💕 Longer / Female Chest

The longer (female) chest version extends about 5 cm longer than the regular one (and can be extended up to 10 cm with the custom size option).
It offers extra coverage and warmth around the sensitive belly and chest area, which often have less fur on sighthounds.

Although it’s called the female chest, it fits both male and female dogs.
However, keep in mind that a longer chest can increase the risk of pee-on-sweater accidents for male dogs - especially if you choose a jumper without an elastic band.

In general, we recommend pairing the female chest with an elastic band, as the low-hanging chest that extends further toward the belly may otherwise feel uncomfortable for the dog.

💡 Best for:

  • Dogs who get cold easily

  • Female dogs

  • Can also be worn by male dogs

🧵 Elastic Band Option

The elastic band option adds a soft elastic hem at the belly area to ensure a snug and warm fit.
Most dogs prefer this style because it keeps the jumper closer to the body, preventing cold air from getting in.

However, if you’re looking for a looser fit, have a dog in between sizes, or are choosing a jumper for a growing puppy, you may prefer a jumper without an elastic band.
With the elastic band, the jumper becomes slightly tighter and a bit more difficult to put on and take off - so it’s all about your dog’s comfort and your preference.

⚠️ Important note: If your dog is overweight or expecting puppies, the elastic band can be uncomfortable, as it’s designed for slim, deep-chested dogs.

No matter which option you choose, every Koro jumper is designed to balance comfort, warmth, and practicality - so your dog stays cozy, stylish, and ready for any season.
